THE PRESENTERS
CENTRE FOR ABORIGINAL MEDIA (CAM)
The Centre for Aboriginal Media (CAM) was formed in November, 1998. CAM is dedicated to preserving and developing Aboriginally produced film/electronic/digital media. In the past two years, CAM has produced, in partnership with V tape, a 13 part series (imagineNATIVE) for the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and developed a 96-page Aboriginal Media Directory of Producers, Directors, Actors and Technicians. CAM also focuses on mentoring, internship and training opportunities for aspiring individuals for placement in their specified careers within and outside Aboriginal communities.
V TAPE
V TAPE is Canadas largest distributor of independent video art. Born from a love of video and the electronic arts and actively involved in fulfilling the needs of both artists and audiences, V tape makes these exciting new art forms accessible to viewers across Canada. Serving scholars, curators, programmers, students, teachers and artists alike, V tapes commitment remains with video and multimedia artworks to their cataloguing, their distribution, their preservation and their future. V tape has been committed to the development of the Centre for Aboriginal Media for many years and is proud to be presenting the Aboriginal Media Arts Festival alongside CAM.
