Now in its 15th year, The North by Northeast Music & Film Festival and Conference (NXNE) is Canada’s #1 showcase for the best new music and music-related films. Women in Film and Television - Toronto Executive Management Program
Deadline: November 18, 2008

This national initiative, supported by Canwest,  provides television production companies with the opportunity to develop their  management team and strategy through an intensive five-day workshop. The program continues  with a three-month mentorship matching industry leaders with workshop  participants. The  production companies will convene in Toronto  on January 12, 2009 for five days of intensive workshops, case studies and  one-on-one consultations.  Completed  application packages must be submitted to WIFT-T  by Tuesday, November 18, 2008 by 5 p.m. EST.

Women in Film and Television - Toronto Media Leadership Program
Deadline: January 9, 2009

Specifically  designed for managers, professionals, and entrepreneurs working in screen-based  industries, this program will help participants develop  their leadership skills and gain a thorough understanding of business skills  required in the industry. Themes that will run  throughout the sessions include: technological change, multiplatform delivery  of content, globalization of the marketplace, challenges of leadership in times  of great change, and how leaders manage major decision-making. The WIFT-T Media  Leadership Program features internationally-renowned speakers from the Schulich  Executive Education Centre and high profile industry guests. Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate from the Schulich School of Business. Completed  application packages must be submitted to WIFT-T  by Friday, January 9, 2009 by 5 p.m. EST.

Ontario Arts Council, Ojibway Cultural Centre and the Woodland Cultural Centre Exhibition Assistance Program

The Ontario Arts Council has partnered with the Ojibwe Cultural Foundation (M’Chigeeng, Manitoulin) and the Woodland Cultural Centre (Brantford) to offer the Exhibition Assistance Program. If you are an Aboriginal artist working in visual arts, media arts or crafts and have a confirmed upcoming exhibition, you may be eligible for a grant of up to $1,500 through OAC’s Exhibition Assistance program. (Aboriginal includes Status, Non-Status, Métis, and Inuit people).

Maintains area studios, workshops, tools and equipment for curriculum needs. Monitors budgets, maintains and orders supplies and records for the work area. Works as part of a team with other technicians to recommend capital purchases, renovations and policies. Provides technical input into curriculum development as required. Assists faculty and students in the planning and preparation of the graduation show. Organizes the work, hires, trains and supervises student monitors and technical casual staff. IsumaTV creates Inuit Language and Culture Institute

Inuit filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk, speaking at the Arctic Indigenous Languages Symposium in Tromso, Norway, October 20, 2008, announced the creation of the Inuit Language and Culture Institute on IsumaTV, a five year $25 million commitment to install high-speed broadband and public access production studios in every participating Inuit community.
