Trinity Square Video (TSV) has a long history of supporting and presenting video-based works that are mediated by images of protest and activism, providing a space to explore the range of meaning that can be generated from such imagery.
We are looking for dynamic video and video-based artworks that are engaged with varying forms of contemporary politics in unexpected or unconventional ways. We are seeking innovative artist's works that use video, its forms and its processes, to examine the modes of presentation found in activist gesture, social action or cultural critique.

Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers: 18th Annual $100 Film Festival, Calgary

The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers is pleased to present the annual $100 Film Festival from March 4-6, 2010. The festival embodies the spirit of low-budget, independent filmmaking and brings the experience of projected celluloid to our audience by only screening film prints. It is the only competitive festival in Canada that screens exclusively on Super 8 and 16mm film. The $100 Film Festival does not charge any entrance fees and pays artist fees for all films selected for the festival. The selected films will also be eligible for festival prizes.

National Screen Institute (NSI), Winnipeg

The NSI is accepting applications form emerging Canadian filmmakers for its 2010 NSI Drama Prize training program. The program trains writers, directors and producers in the production of a short film using mentoring and intensive filmmaking workshops delivered by leading industry experts. Filmmakers must apply as a team and submit a finished scripts with their applications. Their proposed short film should not run longer thatn ten (10) minutes.
