Situated on a tranquil island in the centre of the Bering Sea, a visitor captures the poetic reflections of an Unangam Tunuu elder on landscape, fauna and youth through a collection of magical, dreamlike imagery.
Sky Hopinka’s (Ho-Chunk) work centres on personal positions of landscapes, language, culture and the play between the accessibility of the known and the unknowable, and how those concepts interact with the screen and the audience. He received his BA from Portland State University in liberal arts and his MFA in film, video, animation and new genres from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
