SUPPORT imagineNATIVE – Sponsor an Artist

Hello everyone!

What a busy and exciting time it is here at imagineNATIVE – the Festival is weeks away and we are all gearing up for the many incredible screenings, events, panels and exhibitions we have in store for our 13th year!

Many of you share our enthusiasm and have asked for ways to help. One of the challenges we encounter each year is covering the costs to bring the many talented and deserving artists to imagineNATIVE. Expenses can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

For several years now imagineNATIVE has implemented its “Sponsor an Artist Program”. This initiative sees your contributions go directly to Indigenous artists, both local and international, by allowing us to subsidize costs associated with Festival participation. As the largest informal market for Indigenous-made film and media works in the world, and the only one of its kind in Canada, attendance at the Festival can dramatically enhance the professional and artistic development of artists at all levels of their career, providing unique training, networking, and artistic opportunities in an intimate and inspiring environment.

Lisa Jackson, who won a Genie Award in 2010 for her film “Savage” (which was commissioned by imagineNATIVE), commented:

imagineNATIVE has almost singlehandedly created a worldwide Indigenous film community, and done a wonderful job of bringing filmmakers together with various funders/distributors/festivals in Canada and internationally. The excellent team at iN welcomes new filmmakers into the fold, and brings us together to celebrate our work and connect and collaborate creatively. Having been to many film festivals of all calibres, Native and Non-native, in Canada and abroad, I can’t say enough about the excellence of what this premier Aboriginal film festival is doing. It is, hands down, my favourite festival.
